My Trip to Japan, 2007

In November of 2007, I had the opportunity to visit Japan, home of the Suzuki Method and the Miyazawa Flute Factory. My journey began with a trip to the Miyazawa Factory in Asaka, near Tokyo.

I later gave a recital. First we rehearsed. . .

I then journeyed to the city of Matsumoto, Japan, the home the Talent Education Research Institute -- the birthplace of the Suzuki Method. I had met Toshio Takahashi, founder of the Suzuki Flute Method, and attended his masterclasses in the United States many years ago. I had the opportunity to once again work with him.

I had a chance to visit Dr. Suzuki's grave with Mr. Takahashi. The memorial site is located at one of the highest spots in Matsumoto.
