My Trip to Japan, 2007
In November of 2007, I had the opportunity to visit Japan, home of the Suzuki Method and the Miyazawa Flute Factory. My journey began with a trip to the Miyazawa Factory in Asaka, near Tokyo.

I also taught private lessons. . .
. . . and a masterclass.
I later gave a recital. First we rehearsed. . .
. . . and then we performed
I then journeyed to the city of Matsumoto, Japan, the home the Talent Education Research Institute -- the birthplace of the Suzuki Method. I had met Toshio Takahashi, founder of the Suzuki Flute Method, and attended his masterclasses in the United States many years ago. I had the opportunity to once again work with him.

I had a chance to visit Dr. Suzuki's grave with Mr. Takahashi. The memorial site is located at one of the highest spots in Matsumoto.

We later went to Dr. Suzuki's home, which has been turned into a Museum honoring him and his legacy.

I had a little time to sight see. Here I am at Matsumoto castle.
